Welcome to Reception Class September 2025!

We are very much looking forward to you joining us in September. 

Please find below a list of useful documents for families of new Reception pupils starting at Edleston Primary School in September 2025. 

Some key dates for Reception 2025 / 2026 transition activities:

Tuesday June 24th at 5:00pm - School hall - Parents’ welcome meeting

Parents are invited to meet our Reception staff, Mrs Tomkinson and Mrs Thomasson as we outline how our Reception provision works. During the meeting, we will provide an outline of the Reception curriculum, our daily routines and share what information we would like you to provide ahead of your child’s start in September. We will provide a range of materials and information to take with you. Much of the information has already been shared with you through Arbor.

Transition morning 1: Thursday 3rd July 9:30am - 10.30am

As part of our transition process, we offer two sessions for our new pupils to join us in order to meet their new teachers and to begin to develop some friendships with their peers. 

Our first session will take place on Thursday 3rd July. We invite parents to bring their child to the main entrance at 9:25am where they will be taken to our Reception Classroom for a morning of exploration. Parents are invited to collect children from the main entrance at 10:35am. 

Transition afternoon 2: Monday 8th June 1:30pm - 2:30pm

For our second transition event, children are invited to visit us in the afternoon. Once again can we ask you arrive at the main entrance for 1:25pm and after an afternoon of play they can be collected from the main entrance at 2:35pm.

Reception 2025 Parent and child lunch: Wednesday 9th July 11:30am - 12noon

You are all invited to attend a welcome lunch. A letter has been sent out to you through Arbor.

£2.75 per person— a maximum of 2 adults for each child booking.

Option A—Cheese and Ham Stuffed Potato Skins

Option B—Margarita Pizza with Tomato Pasta

Served with seasonal vegetables or beans with a drink.

Ice-cream, yoghurts or Fruit Platter

Please complete the reply slip on the letter to select your choices and any allergies and return to the school office with payment on or before Friday 5th July if you would like to attend.

The Early Years Foundation Stage - Curriculum

The Early Years curriculum is made up of 7 key areas of learning. These key areas are then broken down into aspects, each made up of progress measures known as Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Pupils’ progress against these ELGs is regularly monitored and reported at the end of the academic year.
